Why Commission A Painted Portrait – Part One

A painted portrait will last a lifetime… and more! It is the perfect present for many occasions.
Over 50 years ago, my grandpa who was also a painter, painted my portrait.

Over 30 years ago, my mom, who is also a painter 🙂 painted another one of me.

Both are still on the wall in my parents’ house. They will probably last hundreds of years if my descendants keep them.
As you can see in my website, I paint portrait in a different style than my ancestors, with a preference for large or huge canvases. Whatever the size, they will also be a legacy for their owners and their families.
Here is a portrait I painted from my friend Gary and Marilou. We call them “Garylou”. They are some of the sweetest people on earth and I had a lot of pleasure painting this one.
I love to not only paint a portrait, but a moment. Time stopped and here you are, on the canvas, but not totally realistic, no, it’s more like yourself as an emanation of colors at one moment in time. It’s not a “dead” portrait. You can feel the life connected to it, sometimes even hear the music.
Here is a video of the making of another portrait, a double portrait as it is my husband and I. It is called “Better Halves”.
Each portrait is totally created and hand-painted by myself and painted on gallery wrapped canvas with high quality artist paint.

There are many other reasons why someone would commission a portrait. I will go over those in future blog posts!
